According to information published by Bloomberg, Spain would be the healthiest country in the world. The 2019 edition of the Bloomberg Healthiest Country Index ranks 169 economies based on factors related to general health. Spain, which was ranked the sixth healthiest country in the previous edition in 2017, is at the top of the ranking this year.
Spain is the country in the European Union with the longest life expectancy at birth. According toInstitute for Health Metrics and Evaluation from the University of Washington, Spain could reach a life expectancy of 86 years in 2040.
The Spanish diet, which is low in fat, could be one of the keys to explaining such a ranking.
